LIFE AFTER MENOPAUSE

Reflecting on my life to date, I realized that women pass through  three or maybe four stages in our lifetime.  Think of this journey as a play divided into four acts.

ACT I:     Our first 20 years are spent growing up.  So much happens during this stage.  We enter the world completely depending on someone to keep us alive.  We begin to enjoy childhood, making friends, going to school, learning new skills and becoming aware of the world around us.

Next come the teen years where we become very social creatures and often value our friends more than our families.  Remember when your parents "just couldn't possibly understand" what you were experiencing?  We found ourselves preparing for Act II, but not always with the right perspective.

ACT II:     Our next 30+ years take us into adulthood, finding a career, finding a partner and for most of us, nurturing our families.  Many of us needed to work at a job for the steady income to put a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothing for our families and maybe a trip or two.

We didn't have much time to focus on our own wants, needs or goals.  But our families grow up and don't require so much of our time and attention...which takes us to Act III...time to take care of you!  It's time to address whatever you pushed aside while making your family your priority.

ACT III:     Now it's your turn to focus on what matters most to you.  All your life experience to date combined with your job or career experience makes you who you are today.  So...what do you want to do with the rest of your life?  What will excite you?  Challenge you?  Fulfill you?

Do you want to embark on an adventure travelling around the world?

Do you want to buy an RV and explore places you might not otherwise experience, spending as much or as little time as you choose in different areas.  Maybe you start a blog or a travel site to share your discoveries.

Is there a non profit you want to start or give time to?

Or do you want to teach others what you have spent time and energy learning.  To somehow make it better or easier for someone else to know what you know, to make the world a better place.

Is your goal to start a business that combines some or all of the above?  Do you want to make money living your purpose?  Doing what you want, where you want, when you want with whomever you choose?  But how to get started?  Where to find the support you need?

You're surrounded by your amazing family and friends hoping they support your desire to fulfill your personal dreams but sometimes they don't get it or they're not on board.  Secretly they may be sabotaging your efforts telling you not to waste your time trying to start a business or non profit or whatever project you dream of.  They don't have the skills to help you.  It's not that they don't love you or want you to be happy but they can't relate.

What you need is to find a mentor to guide you and a group of like minded supportive women who have the same goals for themselves whatever they may be.  A place for positive feedback on your ideas, inspiration and motivation.

Menopause is somewhat liberating.  There can be a mind shift that comes with the obvious physical freedom.  Look back at all you have accomplished in your life no matter how small any single victory can seem.

You have become an amazing woman and you have survived life challenges, obstacles and losses.  Be proud of who you are today.  Believe in yourself!  Believe in your power!  Believe that with the right help, guidance and support you can and will achieve your dreams, live your purpose and you will do it with passion and style!

Now is the time and this is the place...

P.S.  Your ACT III is what ever you want it to be...just remember to dream big!
